There are several reasons why I became a photographer. First, I’ve always loved being behind the scenes. Before I hit college I bought my first fancy camera, a Nikon Coolpix. I was so excited to spend my money on such a cool looking camera. Then, I started doing lots of free photoshoots for my friends and learning as much as possible.
I bought a different camera every year, usually bigger and more complex. My biggest desire was to keep growing, to keep pushing myself to new limits with photos. By the time I finished college, I had my first Canon DSLR camera. It was absolutely amazing. I learned everything about a DSLR by researching, taking classes, and I never stopped.
Then finally, I got my first real gig in 2016. My friends asked me to shoot their wedding. After their wedding, my boyfriend asked, “Why don’t you actually pursue this for real? You have the talent for it.” It hadn’t even occurred to me I could be making some extra money because I had so much fun doing it.
Now here I am two years later with a full-blown website, inquiries almost weekly for photoshoots, and so many wonderful clients who I adore. I can proudly say I am a 27-year-old professional Seattle photographer who does weddings, families, engaged couples, maternity, newborn, and portraits shoots. I am a jack of all trades, and I shoot all over Seattle, Everett, Mount Vernon, and Bellingham!
I’m still growing, which is why I always value the input and advice of my friend, a well-known wedding photographer. She’s helped guide me, and expand my mind in ways I never even thought possible.
