Christmas is a magical time, so it isn’t unusual for many couples to get engaged during the holiday season, which is exactly what happened with Jacob and Mary.
As students at Western Washington University, Mary and Jacob met at a campus party and never looked back.
Five years later, the couple had just purchased their first house in the Everett area. Four days before Christmas, Jacob told Mary he wanted to put up some Christmas lights even though it wasn’t necessary since Christmas was just around the corner. When Jacob was done with the lights, he asked Mary to step outside and admire his handiwork and spelled out in lights on the roof was Marry Me. Of course, Mary said yes!
The Wedding Day
Their wedding day was a total classy champagne gold, black and white affair. They got ready at Hotel Sorrento, a quaint boutique hotel in Seattle. The ceremony was held at the St. James Cathedral, a historic Catholic church downtown with its grand renaissance architecture. In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful churches in Seattle.
The ceremony was followed by a reception at Imperia Lake Union. This 6,000 square foot event space in the Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle overlooks Lake Union and its 10-foot chandeliers and copper ceilings provided the ambience. Gold touches were everywhere, and I especially loved the gold floral leaf accents on their wedding cake.
They say “All that glitter is not gold” but in Mary and Jacob’s case, this was not true. Their entire day was glorious and shiny and magical.
