As a Seattle family photographer, every place and every session is completely different and unique. Nothing pleases me more than getting the opportunity to do photography sessions for close family and friends. Whether it’s those firework moments or just those candid close moments as a family.
It’s rare when I can trace a relationship back to my toddler years, but this was the case with Shannon. My Mom and her Mom –who are still close friends today- first met at a mother’s group at the church both our families attended. This led to us doing swim lessons together and having numerous playdates throughout our childhood years. Shannon and her sisters also helped their Mom throw my bridal shower and ones for my two sisters as well.
It’s crazy to think Shannon and I are actual adults now with full time jobs and children, although mine are of the furry variety. When she reached out one day and asked me to do a family shoot, I was thrilled. I finally got to meet her beautiful one-year-old daughter Ava for the first time! Shannon also asked her Mom to be present at the shoot. She helped keep Ava entertained during outfit changes and watch her while Shannon and her husband did some couples photos. It can be super helpful to have a trusted friend or family member tag along to your shoots, especially for family sessions.
Their backyard offered an intimate, easy going, comfortable atmosphere. We all enjoyed not just getting reconnected with each other but working together as a team to capture special family moments.
