There is a wedding quote I came across the other day. It said, “Sometimes you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time.” In Edwin and Christa’s case, they not only fell in love but didn’t hesitate to take their relationship to the next level. Here are some of the beautiful details about their love story and their Thornton A. Sullivan park beach wedding.
Falling in Love
They met on a Facebook dating site and clicked so well that after six months of dating, Edwin proposed. He took Christa to Juanita Beach for the proposal because he knew how much she loves the water. Edwin kept dropping hints, asking Christa if he really had to wait another six months before proposing to her. He then asked her to marry him.
Because Christa and Edwin are both Christian, they wanted a religious ceremony. They had both the ceremony and reception at Thornton A. Sullivan Park in Everett, WA. My family actually lives close to this park, so I had been many times in my childhood. However, this was my first time shooting a wedding there. This 35-acre lakeside park offers a big playground, a decent size beach, nice swimming area and wooded trails. Plenty of beautiful natural scenery surrounded us, making it easy to photograph this couple in various settings.
Beach Vibes
Christa wanted turquoise and sand colors for her wedding because they reminded her of the ocean. We may not have been near the ocean, but the lake and beach areas complimented her theme. Blue is my favorite color, so I appreciated her selection.
The couple opted for a large wedding party- 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen-so aqua dresses for the bridesmaids and tan for the groomsmen. She also chose sola wood flower bouquets which I adore because they never wilt and photograph beautifully. You can use those bouquets for years to come as part of your home decor. I also admired the cookies she had for the dessert table which were decorated with shells on them, continuing the beach vibe.
September can be a tricky month to host a wedding, but we got a gorgeous sunny day. Sun, sand and two sweethearts sealing their love with a kiss, who could ask for more.
