What To Wear For Maternity Photos
You’ve booked your maternity photographer, and now you need to start planning your outfits! What shoes do you wear? What colors mesh well together? It can be overwhelming to think about the perfect outfits, and what to wear for maternity photos. All of my sessions include a detailed session guide and all the tips and tricks you could ever need. One of my big tricks is if you’re struggling with deciding what works best – take a peek at the color wheel. This will help you come up with colors that match and look good together. Take a look at a color wheel.
Keep in mind your location as well! For example – A burgundy dress against the sand at the beach, a mustard yellow top in the park at fall, etc. Jewel tones are a lovely addition too!
One of my beautiful couples is Jennifer and Dan. Jennifer reached out to me via email and asked about doing a photo shoot in some beautiful fields. The dilemma was where to go. The possibilities seemed endless. I’m always happy to offer a plethora of suggestions on various prime locations to my clients. In turn my clients offer ideas as well. This is wonderful because then I get to discover new places.
Favorite Field Location
We settled on the historic Nakashima Barn- a wild and wonderful spot in Arlington- which anchors the north end of Snohomish County’s Centennial Trail. It’s a great place for many reasons. Parking is plentiful, and it’s a practical consideration. From a photographer’s standpoint, the property surrounding this intense red barn is a dream. You have woodlands, a wetland pool, a creek and thick forests of maple, alder, fir, and even some Sitka spruce.
My favorite time of day to do a photo session is during what photographer’s call “golden hour”. It’s the last hour before sunset and the first hour after sunrise. These times provide the perfect lighting to capture amazing shots. I’ve done many golden hour shoots, but I must say I had the dreamiest golden light for Jennifer and Dan’s session. This couple seemed to glow in every photo.
